Amanda v. Andrew

Our Amanda is concerned that kids and teenagers could be learning from a Member of Parliament that a hungerstrike is an acceptable form of protest.

Three points Amanda
  1. Kids and teenagers don’t know or care who Andrew Bartlett is (sorry Andrew).
  2. In recent years the 40-hour famine which was directed at kids and teenagers is steadily loosing popularity (sorry Tim).
  3. Childhood obesity figures in this country tells us that if kids and teenagers want to protest they are going to use other methods (sorry kids).
Have the honest discussion about the conditions faced by asylum seekers at the Baxter Detention Centre.

Agree to make the changes recommended by so many.

Do that and I am sure that Andrew (and many others) will be big and fat again real soon.

Mandy Vanstone is just hot beyond belief.

I hear she's the new calendar girl for Penfold's Grange and Krispy Kreme.

Baby, reel me tongue in.

I'm still big and fat(ish), but am now heartbroken to read that kids and teenagers don't know who I am! Still, based on the last election, I'm not sure people knowing who I am helped very much.
It seems like all the asylum seekers are ending their hunger strike on Xmas day which is a good thing, and it also seems like they'll all stay imprisoned through into 2005, which is a very bad thing.
If there's one thing more certain than asylum seekers staying unfree for New Years Day, it's that this Govt ain't going to have the 'honest discussion' about this issue or a lot of other things any time soon. Maybe we can just try to make more of the rest of the population have the discussion instead.

Anything that can be done to keep reminding us that we as Australians are complicit in causing so much pain and trauma to people who find themselves persecuted for being 'other' has to be done.

You, Andrew (along with Dr. Louise Newman) inspire me tremendously.
Thank you.
