When accused of erring on the wrong side of life, Jeb Bush stated that he wasn't in the room at the time.

When Jeb's brother George W. Bush said,
"This [Terri Schiavo's death] is an extraordinary and sad case, and I believe that in a case such as this, the legislative branch, the executive branch, ought to err on the side of life."
Jeb was not paying attention or heard lice instead of life. Either way he is happy to support the 'Stand Your Ground Bill'.
This would give Florida citizens the right to shoot and kill anyone who threatens them in public. This Bill would allow members of the public to:
"Meet force with force, including deadly force and defend themselves without fear of prosecution."
Elsewhere, however, courts have until now ruled that victims must at least attempt to escape before using lethal force, a provision which gun advocates say puts victims at greater risk. The latest bill removes that requirement if there is a reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm.

"If the public has the clear right to kill without any legal consequences, it will cause criminals to think twice."

Yeah, but now that US Congressmen are legitimising violence against US Federal judges...

...a number have considered moving their courts to Florida, where they can shoot... err.. stand their ground first and ask questions later.

....this is the thinking which refers to a deadly weapon as an 'equaliser' .

The hypocrisy of it! Did you see Moir's cartoon in the Herald a few weeks ago, Suki? If not, there's a pic of it on my blog at:

Although the bill has a stupid name, its not really that bad. Would still be better to have gun control though.

Clearly things are very uncomplicated in Florida Nic.
Stand your ground makes perfect sense. It conveys just the right amount of self-righteousness, particularly if said by Charlton Heston...
