Almost enough to impress an Atheist

I am not often interested, let alone impressed by conservative religious types. This indifference has just been challenged by the strong stand made by the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney Dr Peter Jensen and the Catholic Archbishop of Sydney Cardinal George Pell with regard to IR changes.
"It seems at this point that the proposals shift the differential of power in favour of employers, who can have a propensity to mistreat workers in the interests of the business." - Dr. Jensen

Lil' Johnny on Insiders made me laugh:

"BARRIE CASSIDY: On industrial relations Prime Minister, you've managed to unite the Catholic and Anglican churches. They're archbishops are worried about the impact on family life?

JOHN HOWARD: Well, I think that's an exaggeration. I believe that there'll be a range of views inside the ranks of practising Catholics on this issue and Anglicans, as there are on every other issue. There's no such thing as a Catholic or an Anglican view on anything, it depends on individuals."

... I'm quite sure all Catholics agree on at least one or two things, and I love the insinuation that the respective Archbishops are simply expressing "individual" opinions. I'm thinking maybe their views on issues might just influence a few people.

I watched HoWARd on the Insiders and even through the dual fog of morning and under-caffeinated his ability to spin-it-'til-you-like-it is profound.

HoWARd is not the only one. Costello doesn't mind a bit of minimising himself.

While HoWARd has it right inasmuch as religions per se are irrelevant, certainly in Australia, you won't hear any young politicians making the same statement. HoWARd is not generally one to abandon broad swathes of the voter base.

Maybe this is one of his signals that he's about to go.

No, HoWARd is not going anywhere soon Weezil. Today he has the Senate and he is drunk with power and lust.

Costello remains a liability and no one else is close.
